![]() Although an interesting sight, it is a bit of a drive (if there's any trafic) for someone leaving the Bay area. As far as location, it is one of the northernmost large winery in the Sonoma area. A very unique property and one I would highly recommend you consider making a day trip to if you are in the Napa/Sonoma area.įrancis Ford Coppola is somewhat unique in the Napa/Sonoma area in the sense that it does a fairly good job to offer a "premium" experience in a very nice setting while being relatively family friendly. We saw people and families swimming, lounging poolside and playing bocce ball. Outside is so amazing, with a huge pool surrounded by little cabanas (little change rooms) that people can rent for the day. We did not have time to do some tastings but the tasting room was busy. There's also a great gift shop and of course lots of fantastic wines for purchase. After lunch, we took a tour inside the winery and the movie gallery with all it's authentic movie memorabilia, including a glass show case filled with FFC Academy Awards. I found my glass of Reserve Russian River Pinot Noir to be okay but not as delicious as I'd hoped it would be as it didn't have that distinct RR pinot deliciousness to it. The red house wine Rosso at $5.00 was also surprisingly quite good as a table wine and recommended by our relative who had enjoyed it here before. I had a glass of the Sofia Blanc de Blanc before my meal which at $6.50 a glass was quite nice for the price. Huge! Our relatives shared and absolutely loved the Marrakesh Lamb for two ($42), a stew like meal cooked and served piping hot in this neat clay pot thing (I don't like lamb, otherwise, my husband would have ordered this dish too but it is served for two people). My husband enjoyed his rack of lamb and I my Chicken Mattone ($24) - half a chicken cooked flat under a brick. Our waiter recommended some of their classic favourites. There was space available inside the restaurant but we opted for the outside patio where we were surrounded by a beautiful scenic view of the vineyards. My husband and I visited relatives in the area while vacationing in Napa and the four of us had a fantastic lunch at the winery at their flagship restaurant Rustic. If you are on a tight schedule or have only a few days in the area, Coppola Winery needs to be on your Must Do list. We were very happy to discover many great wines at affordable prices and, key for us Canadians, wide distribution, meaning we will be able to pick up Coppola wines on our regular visits to Seattle. ![]() Then it was inside to tour the exhibits, the closest we will ever get to an Academy Award! There are many staff throughout the rooms, very knowledgable and eager to give assistance. The 1/2 Muffaletta sandwich is enough for 2 people. We dragged a small table into the shade of one of many trees on the patio and enjoyed and fabulous el fresco lunch. As it was near lunch time the first decision was whether to eat inside at Rustic or outside at one of the many small tables surrounding the Patio bar and the pool. The parking lot was crowded (usually something that turns us away) but the setting was so beautiful we decided to press on. So on a beautiful sunny day of the Labour Day weekend, we decided to visit. Whenever we asked (our resort host, the welcome centre host, other guests, other merchants) about "must see" wineries one answer always came back: "Coppola". Both can be purchased online and in stores or will be served at Tanino in Westwood, Via Alloro in Beverly Hills and Venice’s The Other Room. This is our first visit to the Wine Area of Northern California. The sparkling pink stuff is retailing for $19 for the 750ml bottles and $20 per 4-pack of Minis. Since 2004, the Sofia collection has expanded to include Blanc de Blancs Minis, Riesling, a still Rosé, Chardonnay, a limited-edition Méthode Champenoise and now, the Sofia Brut Rosé. which debuted its pretty-yet-playful peach 187ml cans (including straws) over a decade ago. ![]() ![]() The 2016 Sofia Brut Rosé packaging resembles its predecessor, the Sofia Blanc de Blancs. “Unlike Sofia’s still rosé, which is crafted from Rhone varietals, Sofia Brut Rosé is made from a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, offering aromatic flavors that pair well with assorted cheeses and charcuterie, hors d’oeuvres, shellfish and spicy Asian cuisine,” says Corey Beck, FFCW’s president and director of winemaking. Millennials have been obsessing over the pink drink in recent years, elevating the popularity of rosé online wine club Winc told Fortune their year-over-year rosé orders jumped 300% in 2016.
